      2. Oh me too! I love that commercial. When I was in school I loved that my teacher loved to draw like me and she used colored pencils and had so many. It feels like heaven. Alex lost all of mine. And they aren’t cheap as you know! AWE thank you Holly we will do that. ❤

        According to Chris Biondo, “Nightbird” was one of the first songs Eva wanted to do when they put the Eva Cassidy Band together.
        She performed it at the band’s debut at Fatty’s in Rockville, and it was usually part of her set list after that. For the recording on EVA BY HEART, Biondo comments, “We hired the dobro player from the Hula Monsters, Eva really dug that, then we hired a guy from Blue Miracle named Jon Gillespie to play keyboard vibes.
        Eva sang backgrounds on their record. He’s the guy who played organ on ‘Time is a Healer.'”

That song is about a prostitute, a prostitute that I used to live with who really watched out for me. I have no idea if Eva Cassidy knew what that song was about and I never heard it until my wife played it for me during a drive to Los Angeles from San Luis Opisbo. I’m a huge baseball fan and my team, the Cardinals from St Louis, were playing the Dodgers and I wanted to listen to the game. My wife said “I got something for you to hear”, and I said, “But the Cardinals are on” and she said “This is more important than the Cardinals” and she put this CD on of Eva Cassidy. I tell you, it moved me so much, I pulled over to the side of the road and I was weeping. I have never done that song again. When people ask me to do Nightbird, I tell them that if they want to hear THE version, she is the one to listen to. And then of course she died before I got a chance to meet her to ask her how she interpreted it like that.’

      4. I’ve been drawing since I was a kid. I think most of my art is now digital. I remember when I switched to electronic media it was so hard to get my computer to do the things I found so easy with a pencil. Sometimes I still draw by hand and then scan it in and trace it! The long way around. 🙂

      6. Oh yes. Me too. I want to get a stylus pen and pad to draw with but I find that I’m pretty good with my apple mouse. I love it a lot! I do have an iPad also I’ve been thinking of getting the Apple pen. I heard they are really wonderful! 🙂

      4. Oh wow Michael this is beautiful. We use Indesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and personally I use Lightroom for my photos. I’ve never heard of Scribus. We have been looking into different layout programs because Adobe started charging so much per seat! We are looking at Affinity.https://affinity.serif.com/en-us/ Here the link for you. I noticed it looks like your pages are sized for the European print size. I’m so happy to know that you work in publishing too. I love love love what we do. 🙂

      5. Hey, thank you for the compliment. I will tell it our co-workers.
        But in real: “We try to make something like a magazine”. 😉 Oh, yes the “Adobe’s” think they are the gods. During the last years we also used Photoshop and Illustrator. But Illustrator was to “big” for the few pages we produce outside our firm. Moreover we would also have had to buy licenses for our volunteer employees. Now since one year, we have ported Scribus (www.scribus.net) to an UBUNTU Cloud.
        Normally, I am a programmer for cryptographic software. Ultimately, I would have been a Catholic priest and a church lawyer a few years ago. 😉 But publishing is a lot of fun.

      6. Well thank you, I have to say my work is mostly technical so nothing too outside the box of structure and style. My magazine has a style bible and it’s always been my job to make sure everyone our style. I believe that is what builds a strong magazine reputation.
        I love that you are a programmer how amazing is that? I also think being a priest would be so wonderful too! When God calls I think that would be one call I would take immediately! 😀 😀 😀 Which I do. I love that we never get a busy signal! 😀 🙂

      7. Yes, you ve seen, we have not really a structure for DEEZ. 😉 But for you work you really need it for the reputation.

        Oh, i got a busy signal, not from god, but from our bishop(s) which dont want to enlighten the abuse cases of catholic priests. Also the former pope Benedikt XVI. was involved in this cases, but he dont know about for al long time. It was a deal between former expellees from the “Sudetenland” (Czechoslovakia), bavarian politics and nobilities. They built “money pools” to conquer the former “Sudetenland” by strawmen actions. We investigated that and now there’s trouble in the middle of Europe. 😉

      8. Yes we are the industry standard of excellence in this field. There is no other magazine in this industry, that can say this. My mentor instill this in me. I’m the first female to ever hold this position and I had some really big shoes to fill. It takes a long time to learn the industry so I think that is key is knowing your niche’ in this market and come out strong.
        I wish you didn’t get a busy signal. It does sadden my heart to think these things happened in the church and still to this day causes many to leave the faith. It’s so scary to think how insidious this has been. I’m thinking of how the bible says.. “we shall know the truth and it shall set us free.” My mom always adds this part…but first it makes you miserable. Which is so true in this case!
        You have a lot on your plate! I think we should always love our work. At least that’s my personal views on what we do. Blessings on the rest of your day! 🙂

        I love that you are in Germany. My Pa was stationed in Germany. He spoke German. I do a little but not enough to say anything intelligent! 😀 😀 😀

      14. I think the same. They were more silent that generation. When my Pa lost his ability to speak English, he spoke perfect German. The nurses had trouble understanding him but we knew what he was trying to say, my brother and sister and I knew exactly what he was trying to 😀
        My family is from Finland. Though I don’t speak it I have this ability to decipher another language! Plus I have a lot of tools. We have a Russian version of our magazine as well. 🙂

      15. Oh, the german language is really a little bit difficult, especially to understand. Only a few people speak clear “Hochdeutsch”. Since some years i try to learn czech language. The russian language i love, but i cant speek and understand.

      16. It is I agree with you. I studied German in school. I can sing songs in German does that count?? Funny 😀 I think czech would be hard to learn. Once you masters one the others come easier. I notice that when I listen music from another language that I understand more. Maybe music is a road to feeling the meanings. Food for thought there. I watch TV in Russian with subtitles you should try that. It helps you because they put the subject first and then the verb. I’ve noticed that about most languages. Interesting how English is all controlling! LOL My magazine is styled for OLD English. It drives me crazy because I think that way! I find myself stopping a lot before I comment!       27. Me too… I used to be sleepless but I decided to let go of a lot of things I obsessed over like creating. But I can feel myself gravitating back because I love the creating! I love when my editors are up late with me producing numbers I need for the next day I think I’ve trained them to know I will do whatever it takes to get the product out! I’m relaxed believe it or not! I should be resting…
