You Gave It Away

You Gave It Away
Life has taken it’s toll
with your rock-a-bye body
and butterfly soul

Oh…don’t you grow old
Sail it away
Find your way
Find your way

Push out in the ocean
Bail with a spoon
Keep your eye on the moon
Find your way back

With your fist full of wishes
Arms full of dreams
Don’t give them away

Sail them back to me

    • Thank you so much. I am professionally an editor/writer and graphic design/illustrator. I’m not sure about being a poet I like writing in poetic form but usually I let words flow inspired by a photo or a piece of art I design. Hope that makes sense ❤ Have a beautiful day Daniela. I love your name.

  1. Lovely sentiments expressed with a flowing style so they kind of spread over you. I reached the growing old stage years ago, it really is not so bad, honestly 🙂 🙂

  2. Wow! The picture is stunning. But when you add those heart-touching words, it’s out of this world.

  3. Wonderful poem. Lovely graphics to go with it. Happy memorial day weekend.

    • Hi Tim thank you so much. We are having a lot of storms and flooding. 16 tornadoes in one day. The Arkansas River is out of its banks and my mom in Fort Smith is really getting the worse of the down flow. Worse than the flood of ’86. I’m tempted to drive there but I think it’s safer to stay on dry land. Plus Alex is sick again. Darn (>‿◠)✌

      • That’s too much excitement on the weather front. We live 1000 feet from the Rio Grande, and our property is about 16 feet lower than the river bed. Fortunately, there are flood control levees along the river, and a large flood control dam 40 miles north of us. I’m sorry to hear Alex is sick again.

      • Oh my goodness. Such a scary feeling to know all that will come your way eventually. I purposely chose a house on a hill because my last home flooded in ’07 in Tulsa. Me and water have issues for sure. Let’s hope the Corp of Engineers knows what they are doing. I know they are keeping a close eye on the flooding. Here’s a link so you can see the river in Fort Smith. My family lives there, my mom, and sister.

      • Oh me too Tim. I woke up up to it raining again last night. I don’t know where all this water is going. My mom said the river is going to rise another 2 ft. That will put it up to the top of the bridge. Yikes.
