Always RockN’~Inspiration from my Uncle

Uncle Gunn was always rockn' @19

My Uncle Gunn started rockn’ at the young age of 13. My earliest memory of him was recording in the basement of their home on Alexander St. Coming from a large family of hunters, he was teased because he didn’t want to hunt and fish. He left home to follow his dream at the tender age of 15, the man and his music traveled the world in the 70s, 80s and much of the 90s. I admire my Uncle for taking a stand to be HIS OWN MAN. Today I believe this stand makes him stronger then all of the men in my family put together,  because he is his “True Authentic Self,” no pretense but a soft spirit that creates and loves.

Uncle Gunn has a strong tenor voice and can belt out the tunes. Known for his style and ability to sing all genres he stayed true to his love for Rock N Roll.

In early 2000, my Uncle came home to a family that had turned against him. I’ll never forget the video he made explaining why he left and asking for forgiveness for the hurt his exit caused. My heart was gripped by his ability to totally own all of his stuff, all of his shortcomings and he was reaching for a connection and was vulnerable. I immediately called him and we talked for 3 hours. That was 15 years ago and since then we have become best friends and also something about my Uncle that not even he knows I needed him in my life! His love and understanding is almost god-like for me, he has the ability to share the most tender part of his heart and leave it open to love!

What an amazing man. He wrote this song for Alex, I play it over and over, he captured the essence that is baby girl, my Alexanderia!
