Before him

She’d loved purely

Bathed in cleansing waters

Before him

She’d never worked with clay

Hadn’t known how luxurious it felt to be dirty

Before him

She stood encrusted by the remnants of his love

Sculpted by his touch

Before him

She cannot remember life

Hummingbird

Like most, I am much more than what you see.

I am a culmination of all that I have seen.

Were I to stop fluttering about so;

Perhaps you would be able to read all the stories written within my eyes.

But if you are intuitive…

I suspect – even in a glimpse,

You would gather that I have been privy to secrets untold;

Hence my need to keep moving,

For I am a keeper of secrets.

No less than the mystery that is a human soul,

I  too await discovery and exploration.

Remember…

Should you wish to extend an invitation,

It is not only the sweetness or color of your garden

That attracts me.

It is above all –  the color of your emotions.
