The Great Moms Of The Days And The Years

The GREAT GREAT Moms back in the days and the years,
Were ageless, timeless, and pressed on daily with NO fear.
Yes the great Moms of yesterday’s years, knew of little, or NO defeat,
Hustling days and nights with family biz, taking no time out for a leisurely seat.

Their commands were never second guessed or argued,
For it was Mom’s powerful words, just like gospel and truth.
They blazed our days with fury and fire, in determinations desire,
Moms were giants in our day, and we never second guessed their ways.

They showed us through actions more than in words, the book of life,
For they knew it cover to cover, making sure that we understood it right.
In all that we stumbled in, and in all that would make us fall,
Moms knew how to pick us up, get us going, and get back in it standing very tall.

We would simply not go against the mothers creed,
For it would render to us seemingly endless punishing deeds.
It was a one time only second guessing affair,
And we lost miserably, with pain, and unforgotten despair.

The great Moms backed us up with all that they had to give,
To them there was NO child greater than us in her heart, that could ever live.
She would take for us the tallest stance and do us one better,
For we were to become her best, her pride and her joy forever.

I am thankful to God always….for this day as I shed some tears,
For the great great Moms back in the days and the years.
Your torch burns brightly within us as we look to discover,
We pass on your torch in our days of days, in endless love to others.

    1. Hello beautiful Mick!
Hope all is well in your neck of the woods.
I heard on the news there was some scry stuff going on over there with the weather.
Or – is that nothing to you by now?

      1. Not a fan of the destructive ones either.
And – glad that you do take cover when needed.
I’d probably be one of those idiots that would stay out there – Oh just one more photo….EEEEK
        Awwww…Is Alex living close by?
Maybe she’ll visit you at least once a week or so – even if just for a hug & a quick hello.

  1. Thought of my Mom instantly, and then realized my oldest child is over forty and I am a Mom from another generation, a Mom of yester-years, days gone by. I love this poem and the emotions that flow as I read it. The words wrapped around my heart to give it a tug. Beautiful, XO Jeanne Marie
