Fort Smith was a actual Fort in the 1800sThis site also home of the Court House and JailFort Smith Historic Court House & JailJudge Isaac C. Parker was known as the hanging judge. Ezra loves history this is what we do he acts like Judge Isaac is his best friend he knows so much about himThis speaks for itselfThe actual hanging gallowsOne of the cannon used to protect the Fort in the 1800sThe original jail. There was no air conditioning and the doors and windows were bars. Talk about a dungeon, this where all the outlaws of that day were held.Ezra standing on the steps of the original court houseEzra thought this was the coolest! I thought so too!
Looking towards the gallows note this is not very big!
Nice pictures, you know one looks at these old buildings and read the history, but it is tough to imagine I think what those people went through and how they lived. Does not matter which part of the world it is. Fascinating thing to me.
For sure, Same goes for the old wooden ships and their travels, we romantically think of them, but so many died through diseases and lack of about everything. That is why I liked the post because one gets to think about what is behind the renovated buildings.
What a fun day with Ezra. Great photos of a day to remember.
