Surprise Fascinating Bookstore

Ezra & I decided to explore the small town where I’ve lived for 7 years
Ezra asked me what I thought was up those stairs, pressing his face against the window he said Aunt Micki I think it’s a bookstore let’s investigate. I cannot believe what we saw.
Check out these old stairs.

Upstairs was this old bookstore with 15 rooms full of books, over 30,000. Old books, new books, any book you could think of was in this wonderful old bookstore. We wandered from room to room, the floors creaked and made old wood floor noises. The owner said it was built in 1907. Everything was original! It was fascinating.

One of my favorite books that started my love for reading.

What I loved about this book was it was magical and made me dream in my head and I’ve always wanted to find a secret garden.

Each closet in the store was full of period costumes that are actually worn in the Dickens Christmas.

Is this a treasure or what? I cannot believe I’ve lived here for 7 years and never been here. I realized once again I need to take the time to do the things I love! I love bookstores. I love to hold a book and physically turn the pages. I love to dog-ear them and I also love the smell of printed pages. Nothing to me can replace that. Sure readers are nice and time saving but I think I’m going to be a frequent customers at this little piece of paradise!

  1. And a child will lead them. How true this is. I love book stores, love books, but can’t hold them any longer. My hands cramp and I drop them, losing my place, so my eReader is the only way to go for me now, but I so much prefer the real book with all of the pages, the cover to feel, the whole 9 yards. I have found a way to make my crochet hook ergonomic so it can be held easily, but really can’t do the same with my favorite books, so they sit on the shelf while I take them out and hold them and just dream of the days when they were lovingly read, caressed, and worn out from use.

  2. What a treasure you found!!! I prefer a book anytime. I only have my reader for travelling on the bus because books are getting heavy in my bag with all the stuff I have to carry including lunches, my cane etc. But I love bookstores too…I can stay for hours. Thanks for sharing this beauty!! Thank you Ezra for pulling your arm:)
