Older adults who took music lessons as children but haven’t actively played an instrument in decades have a faster brain response to a speech sound than individuals who never played an instrument, according to a new study by Northwestern University researchers.
They found that the more years study participants spent playing instruments as youth, the faster their brains responded to a speech sound.
As people grow older, they often experience changes in the brain that compromise hearing. For instance, the brains of older adults show a slower response to fast-changing sounds, which is important for interpreting speech.
For the study, 44 healthy adults, ages 55-76, listened to a synthesized speech syllable (“da”) while researchers measured electrical activity in the auditory brainstem. This region of the brain processes sound and is a hub for cognitive, sensory, and reward information.

I know you all are probably familiar with Dr. Rex and love her blog so I wanted to take sometime to read because I knew she had a wealth of information to share! A study led by Dr. David Ludwig for the Department of Medicine at Children’s Hospital in Boston and the Harvard School of Public Health concluded that “a child’s odds of becoming obese increase by 60 percent with each additional daily serving of sugar-sweetened drinks.”
Sugar-sweetened soft drinks are a favorite among children and teenagers despite their high calorie and sugar content, with some 12-ounce soft drinks containing 16 percent or more of the recommended daily allowance for sugar.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevent recommends giving up the sugar-sweetened drink in favor of bottled water or diet soda. (REALLY?? I’D GO FOR WATER … DIET SODA HAS ASPARTAME!!! …. GMO/MONSANTO!!)
Coca Cola Brands:
The Coca-Cola Company produces seven brands of sugar-sweetened sodas. A 12-ounce can of Coca-Cola and Caffeine-Free Coca Cola contain 140 calories and 39g of sugar, 13 percent of the recommended daily allowance.

ANGELS
Angels come out of the heavens,
Performing miracles on the ground.
These angels protect me and you,
From the darkness all around.
Angels share your happiness,
And the joys that come to you.
They are there in tragic moments,
To protect and guide you through. And
They will show you all of God’s love,
And perform His miracles to.
As HE has sent them down from up above,
To help us through each day anew.
So when you see small miracles unfold in each day,
Just remember the Angels that brought them your way.
It’s an astonishing sight to see,
Unanswered prayers unfold before you and me.
So open your eyes to see God’s Angels,
And the little miracles that they do.

Oklahoma Sunsets not perfect but perfect to me
This photo has power lines right through the middle of it. Someone said once they tried to take photos without them and it seems no matter where I am there are always power lines in the way and I thought to myself……doesn’t matter if there are power lines this sunset is like me full of character and perfectly Imperfect!
I like my lines, bumps, bruises, and those that want to explain away how my sky gets this way….well please don’t comment because to me this is a perfect Oklahoma sunset. Your opinion is not needed or wanted. Feel free to unfollow! I kind of tired being nice to mean people! Just sayin’
