STRENGTH AND COURAGE~Inspirations from my Uncle Gunn

STRENGTH AND COURAGE

It takes strength to be certain. It takes courage to have doubt.
It takes strength to fit in. It takes courage to stand out.
It takes strength to feel a friend’s pain. It takes courage to dry out from our own rain.
It takes strength to look at their sorrows. It takes courage to stand in their pain.
It takes strength to remain humble. It takes courage to fight being mad.
It takes strength to live in the moment. It takes courage to wish you’ve always had.
It takes strength in knowing that you’d never fit. It takes courage to live as it never mattered one bit.
It takes strength to be an island. It takes courage to stand on the borders of it.

And if we ever substitute strength for courage, we are certain to stand in the windfall,
of self-destructive paths, leading to uncertain downfalls.
So we can shine on, move ahead with God’s light beaming so brilliantly,
As we know the difference of strength and courage, thinking as HE does miraculously.

I love this photo of the tulips and my Uncle Gunn, he looks like my Grandpa Art in that hat! He’s dapper in that hat! 😀

Loving that she’s 21

Everywhere we go Alex forgets she’s 21 when the waiter asks what she would like to drink she gets excited takes out her wallet shows her ID and orders a margarita because she can! She never finished it because she doesn’t like the taste of alcohol! That’s so funny to me! Eventually the new will wear off I hope!

All of my life to fit in

All of my life to fit in
I have always felt alone in life, always. I can’t remember a time every feeling a part of anything. I don’t know if that is because of my un-bringing or because I guard my heart from anything that threatens to hurt. In so doing I believe I have missed out on a lot of life, family, friends and living because I am afraid to feel a connection to anyone but Alex. However, my sweet Uncle Gunn burst through all my defenses with his loving kindness and understanding of this phobia some Antells have holding everyone at arms length. It’s hard growing up an Antell. There were unspoken family expectations and when you feel like you don’t measure up it was easier to disengage then to suck it up and join. I’m not a joiner, one that goes along with everyone else. I sit back and watch that is my nature. My sweet Uncle today has shown me something so BIG….Do you see this wildflower?

Yes my Uncle has a love for wildflowers, sunsets and sunrises and all of God’s beauty and I too share this love! You see I thought I was doing this all alone but what I didn’t know is God had my sweet Uncle doing that same thing in Wisconsin.

Something about that slays me. I have said that a lot lately because for the first time in my life I am allowing myself to love and it hurts so good!

DO GOOD FEEL GOOD ANYWAY~Inspirations from my Uncle

dogoodanyway (1 of 1)

DO GOOD FEEL GOOD ANYWAY

These are OUR principals that keep us moving forward
In the eyes of God in OUR own constitution with Him.
The good you do today, will often be forgotten.
Do good anyway for HE will repay you a hundred fold!
If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.  God loves to watch his children smile!
People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered;
Forgive them anyway. God already has! So can you!
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway…..smile and bask in God’s sun rays!
Think it over, it is between You and HIM;
It was never between You and Them anyway.
God knows it, You know it, and that’s all that matters.
Give the best you have, and it may never be enough;
Give your best anyway. – Gunnar Timothy
